A Brief History of the Band
Terry McDaniel

Lead guitar and vocals

The leader of the Slightly Damaged Band is singer songwriter Terry McDaniel on lead guitar and vocals. Terry grew up in a house with a musical background. As a child it was common for his family to have musicians in the house for the weekend playing country and blue grass. There were guitar players, a fiddle player, banjo, mandlin, etc. This of course led to the desire to play guitar and sing. He saved his meager childhood earnings and bought his first guitar for $75 when he was twelve years old. Though it was a long journey and the talent came slow, it has been a lifelong passion. Through the years he has embraced country, blue grass, classic rock, 80's pop, and blues. He has played music in several bands from Alabama to Chicago and many places in between. He is a songwriter and has done some studio recording, which is quickly becoming his passion. He founded the Slightly Damaged Band in 2005. The band has been a success and is respected by many accomplished musicians in the local Muscle Shoals music scene.

While Terry was the founding member of the band, many other musicians have played as regular band members or special guests. Slightly Damaged has appeared in a wide variety of venues for many unique occasions throughout the band's history. Recently Terry was musically reunited with one of the original members, singer and guitarist Kelly Cole, in the acclaimed 30th Anniversary Mountain Breeze Reunion Show in Russellville, Alabama. On the heels of this very successful, full-production concert, Terry and Kelly performed some acoustic shows together. It was during these interactions that the Slightly Damaged Band received new life.

Throughout the years the band has been joined by several local musicians, including but not limited to Rodger Enloe, Terry Richardson, Bob Wray, Joey Flippin, Jason McDaniel, James Counts, Chad Gamble, Jon Davis, Danny Kirsch, and Oliver Roy. With so many combined years of musical experience and influence at each show, it's no surprise that Slightly Damaged has been a success from the very start!
